The donuts here are GOOD, and fresh, but not worth waiting 2 hours for. Yes, 2 hours. The line to order the donuts was about a half hour and then we were informed that to actually receive the donuts would be another hour. Ok, so we went to the grocery store to pick up a few things and went back to get our donuts right around the hour mark, but ended up waiting an extra 25 minutes on top of the hour they told us. These donuts were worth maybe the half hour wait, but not a full two hours. This is a cool place to go to and try all the different flavors you can imagine on a donut, but I'd highly recommend going as early as possible and eating something before you go!

Yes, yes, yes, 1000 times yes. Made to order donuts with many toppings. I was a skeptical at first but I've been won over to the cake donut side. Tried the sriracha donut as a joke and now I literally crave it. Friendly faces, fun for kids and adults and an easy system to order your donuts and wait for them to be freshly made. Try and bacon maple, a vanilla and fruity pebbles donut and the sriracha one. You won't be disappointed

Fantastic little donut shop at the north end of the island (on Pine Ave.)...though the secret has been out for years, as the place is usually crowded during normal breakfast feeding times. That said, the donuts are "out of sight" and are well-worth the usually reasonable wait. After all, who doesn't like warm, made-to-order donuts? Plus, they've made it much easier (and more efficient) to check off your order on the donut "design" sheets hanging on the wall. You really can't go wrong and should indulge in the many delicious options offered...or create your own donut masterpiece. This is a must-stop on the island and arguably some of the best donuts in America! Worth the wait...become a regular! Enjoy the donuts!!

Very nice people, great novelty, excellent fresh cake donuts, but huge wait!!! One hour and 25 minutes for donuts, really? Wednesday morning during spring break. Arrived at 8:45 am left at 10:10 am. Suggestions; 1) selection/speed: Pre-make standard flavors for quick sales. 2) capacity: need a second donut machine and reconfigure icing/topping line to be double sided 3) Coffee: Great latte! But due to capacity issues is a ware of resource to time to make labor intensive coffees. Just offer regular until you get you wait times under 15 minutes 4) name calling: it is very difficult to hear names called. need to write names on the side of the completed boxes and stack for patrons to see..

Custom donuts. Donuts designed by you. Brilliant idea, good execution, end result is pretty decent. Would I crave these confections and go out of my way and wait an exorbitant amount of time to get them? No. But it's a delicious experiment all the same, and what makes these special is the make-it-your-own options where you can specify a glaze/icing and a particular topping (they also have in-house specialties) for each donut. Superb house iced coffee was a definite plus. I could have drank a gallon of the stuff. We sampled the maple bacon (have had better); chocolate peanut butter (meh); caramel sea salt (a winner); and their custom key lime pie (excellent). Price is just right too. For those that live in or nearby cities, this donut fad is not new. I definitely have had much better donuts in said cities, but these can stand on their own. My Wish list: wish they had offered other different types of donuts as well (chocolate, etc), wish you could get some served fresh and hot, wish there were more coffee options, wish there were more child friendly beverage options. Other teeny gripes: very little indoor seating; not much in the way of directions on how to order, but you can figure it out soon enough. Nice breakfast (or anytime) treat to be had in AMI.

Great Donuts and such a fun experience watching the staff make your doughnuts. The cake batter doughnuts are very filling and their options for customization are incredible. Of course the wait was very long. We ordered doughnuts and went to the house we were renting nearby to make coffee. I'd advise finding a time to go when they aren't busy. It's a fun place to go if you're on a vacation.

We LOVE this place. Have been to Anna Maria twice in the past year and made sure to stop here both times. The first time was in January and we came at about 8:30am and they were pretty empty so there wasn't much of a wait for donuts. We bought 1 dozen. The second time we came was in May on a weekday around 9am. It was pretty busy and we had a large order. If you are ordering more than 1 dozen it is probably wise to call ahead. We ordered 2 dozen so we had to wait about 25 minutes, but not too bad. It's pretty fun to watch them make them all. I am pretty sure they are family owned and always very friendly each time we have come in. And the store is crazy adorable. Love the colors in there! They have slips to the right of the store with pencils were you fill out a form checking what you want - totally customizable - whatever you can dream up. And then you total it all up and take the paper to the cash register to pay. I'm not usually a fan of cake donuts like these but each donut we have tried has been amazing! They are made to order so they come out warm and fresh and delightful. My particular favorites are the coconut + chocolate icing, chocolate icing + chocolate chips and caramel + sea salt. I think next time I go back I will order 6 coconut + chocolate and 6 caramel + sea salt. But seriously it's all so amazing. I almost wish we had ordered 3 dozen, 2 dozen didn't seem like enough! The family devoured them up! We just grabbed a knife and cut them all up so we could each try plenty of different flavors, just a bit of each. Perfect! If you are even remotely in the area you HAVE to come here. I wish I could find donuts like these close to home. This is the #1 thing I miss most from Anna Maria (other than the beach of course) To avoid the lines I would advise calling ahead or arriving early. We have always gone before 10 am and have not had to wait long at all (just wake your butt up early! It's worth it!)
(5)Kerry H.
Been frequenting this place since it opened and the owners here do it right! Delicious product and unique style of choosing all your own toppings. I promise you will not regret getting "The Joanne" - chocolate syrup, coconut and sea salt. It is probably my favorite donut in America. Super excited that this place has been doing so well! Grab a donut here and walk down Gulf Drive to the Anna Maria Island Pier. That's what I do anytime I have a guest in town that's new to Anna Maria.
(5)Chris C.
One word: underwhelmed! Cake donuts... You pick type of glaze and topping. I love a good yeast donut, but to not offer anything but cake is odd. If we had to wait this would have been a 1star. Wanted to try because of the rating, not worth the drive... Better off with Publix donuts.
(2)Susan S.
this was a fun thing to do on our way out of Bradenton..stop and get some donuts for breakfast! i will say that this place is a madhouse!! its packed and busy and confusing..the have you fill out a form for what donuts you want and then there is a maze of people in line to navigate..you can watch your donuts being made and thats fun..the different flavors are interesting and i myself got a maple bacon and a chocolate with graham cracker..we all raved about the different options..i will say the drinks for non coffee drinkers is limited to a small cooler in the corner..over it was a great place and everyone NEEDS to stop by!

Wonderful location, quirky idea, and delicious donuts, all unfortunately overshadowed by the hour wait. We arrived at about 10:30 am on a Thursday, during a very busy week for Anna Maria Island. This cute shop was recommended to us by a friend, and after driving past the night before, we decided to make the trip the next morning to check it out (store closes at 1pm). There is a trolley stop nearby, which was very convenient for us as we had to cross the island to get there. Immediately after getting off we could see the line extending out the door. We snuck past the door to grab some order forms hanging on the wall, but only because we saw others doing the same. The order forms were easy to use and had plenty of pens to use. Simply pick your icing and the topping, or one of the generic options below. We started with six, but after the long wait and seeing how small the donuts were, upped the order to a dozen. I assumed that after standing through the 15 minute line we would be able to get our donuts right away, but we were informed that there was an hour wait. Yikes. I did order a house iced coffee, which was made in about five minutes and was a delicious roast with milk and cream. A very light and airy taste that rivaled any latte I've had lately. The donuts were delicious as well, but as I said before, kind of small. The experience and customization is more worth the trip than the donuts.

I'm tempted to wear a bib while I write this review because I am already beginning to salivate. This place is what indulgence is all about...warm, made-to-order cake donuts with a smorgasbord of toppings sure to please everyone. My personal favorites were Maple Frosted with Crushed Peanuts and Vanilla Frosted with Fruity Pebbles. You cannot go wrong, though. If you are within 60 miles of this Godly establishment, you should be starting your car now. If you are reading this from afar, allow me to help you with your flight arrangements: southwest.com I happen to know of a couple of wonderful rental properties within walking distance if you want to make a weekend out of it! Now that I feel like I'm sitting poolside thanks to my salivary glands, I'll let you cuties make the right decision and go taste these beautiful gifts from Jesus Christ, Himself.
(5)Nathanael S.
Excellent, fresh made cake donuts with excellent flavor combinations, and a couple specials that just come that way. We got Key-lime, maple with bacon, chocolate with Oreo, and a few others. Definitely worth the trip and a great last breakfast on our vacation!
(5)Emily F.
My first time here and employees were super nice and helpful when explaining what to do. Order forms were easy to understand and the wait time was not long at all. Of course, I went at around 7:30a but I hear that it can get super busy around 9-10a. It is fun to watch them make your donuts right in front of you. I will definitely be back!!
(5)Danielle S.
Great time and intriguing to watch. The kids loved designing their own treat!! Warm cake donuts were dynamite and bravo with the fruity pebbles
(4)Hannah H.
We visit AMI almost every year for vacation, and we are always excited to see what new businesses have popped up. When we went this past summer and saw a gourmet donut place had opened, we were absolutely ecstatic. There's something about hopping on your bike first thing in the morning and getting a fresh dozen of donuts that you've "designed"... while the fresh ocean air is breezing in your face. Ahhhh, that is my heaven. ANYWAYS, back to the review. You roll up to Anna Maria Donuts and walk in and you are immediately hit with the smell of fresh donuts baking, and then you get to design your own donuts based on the various toppings they have. We tried so many different kinds its hard to decide which was my favorite. I will say that the vanilla glaze with a raspberry drizzle was quite delicious. I also had my first bacon donut on one of our many trips here. We decided to try the maple glaze with crushed bacon on top, and it was surprisingly delightful. Kind of like eating the greatest parts of breakfast all at once! Don't pass this place up if you are in the area, it is one of my favorite places on the island!
(5)Maddie C.
Delicious and fresh donuts! The manager and workers were very accommodating with my brother's peanut allergy. They changed their gloves, put out a new surface to make his donut on, and put it in a separate bag. Would highly recommend this place for anyone who needs special food accommodations!
(5)Morgan B.
I love this place! We came here two years ago and when we came back this year we were glad to see that it was still here! The doughnuts are awesome and you can make them your own way. A must stop on the island!
(5)H M.
Donut's are very good, always fresh. But they messed up 3 of our donuts :/ besides that and it's always busy... This place is a must when you're at AMI!
(4)Keith F.
Worth the 20 min wait at 10 am on a Thursday in July! Tried the chocolate/coconut, Sriracha and maple/bacon donuts!! Was skeptical at first but a fan now!!
(5)Mr. K.
OMG.. Drove 45 minutes just to try this place out.. And the donuts were amazing!! Really amazing!!! A must have.
(5)Jackie R.
If you are in AMI you have to stop in here one morning. Be sure to get there early because it's super crowded. The choices of what you can get on a doughnut are endless. We tried Caramel with sea salt, chocolate peanut, raspberry glazed. The doughnuts are fresh to order! I am not a big sweet eater for breakfast but this was so worth it! Definitely will go back when we come back to AMI!!!
(5)Margaret C.
So fun! Glad to see this business and its creativity! The donuts are yummy. My favorite was with a maple glaze. With a big beach house group we went here 3 times --- ideal time to order a big batch is 8 am before the big line forms --
(4)Lisa J.
Not impressed. Went here this morning and the staff was not friendly or helpful. In fact, they were kind of snotty. The donuts smelled super greasy and the coffee was just so so.
(2)Hannah T.
YOU MUST GO HERE! BEST DONUTS EVER! Vacationing on AMI, and this was recommended to us by some locals. SO happy my bf and I went! Hands down the best donuts we've ever had! Super fun experience too! This is will literally be the best donut you've ever eaten. GO!
(5)Tracy B.
A trip to The Donut Experiment is an essential part of every visit to AMI. Best donuts we've ever had. Each one handmade especially for you. Don't miss it!
(5)Andrew C.
Be there early they will be closed at one. The ability to get freshly made custom doughnuts is great. You will probably need to wait a bit because there is usually a crowd.
(5)Dave C.
I love a good donut! We discovered this place back in January when we were visiting family and stopped by to get a couple dozen for the family. They have a lot of options which is cool. They also make the donuts as you wait. My favorite is the maple bacon!
(5)Kara B.
First time there! Had a carmel sea salt donut and it didn't disappoint. The place itself was HOT so dress in cool clothes!
(5)Dan B.
Definitely a must visit if your on AMI. I have once a week for the last three weeks. Maple glazed with bacon, maple glazed with peanut butter drizzle. Oh my Goodness! Shawn and his team are great entrepreneurs. Great concept, great quality
(4)Rico R.
My girlfriend brought me here, as I don't eat donuts too often, and when I do, they are the back row crusty gas station donuts. I am pretty picky, and prefer the Homer Simpson (white frosting with sprinkles). Not the most exciting, I know, but whatever. My GF started ordering away, and I got my white frosting with sprinkles, but also suggested truing the bacon with maple glaze. The donut cake itself, was hands down, the BEST donut I have ever had. Perfect amount of crispiness with fluff, it was amazing. The bacon one was incredible, and my boring white frosting with sprinkles was a 10/10. Friendly service, I was raving to the guy about how much I loved it, he probably thought I was stoned or something. Reasonably priced too. If I lived near here, I would be 20 pounds heavier. So awesome
(5)Colleen Z.
Fantastic. Our favorites so far are the chocolate with sprinkles, chocolate with peanut butter and the key lime pie. Yum! I didn't care for the maple bacon. Eat the donuts while hot because they just are not as good when they cool down. AM Donuts is a do not miss while on AMI.
(5)Jillian W.
Melt in your mouth, have to have another (and another, and another) sugar high touch your tongue bliss delicious. Doughnut wise, I've been around the block. A few times. As a youngin' I would walk to the local dunkin and devour a few bavarian creams. Little did I know the doughnut jewels that would await me later in life. I thought the hidden gems on the lower east side of NYC was as good as it could get. I was wrong. Anna Maria Doughnuts is as good as it gets. Sandy feet, glorious sun, kind and accommodating staff, simple, straight forward and freshly made; their incredibly tasty product is further enhanced by the beautiful setting. While enjoying my third chocolate glazed rainbow sprinkled fresh cake doughnut, I even saw a cop patiently waiting for a few dozen while he sipped his coffee. He was obviously unavoidably lured into embodying that stereotype by these irresistible sugary confections of perfection.
(5)Kellyo O.
It is the experience you are going for here. You load up the golf cart with sleepy eyed, mop headed children and haul ass over there first thing in the morning and let the little buggers pick out a doughnut or two. That's what this place is about. A fun family experience! Order your iced coffee and let the poppets watch their doughnuts being made. Don't forget to order a few for yourself. let me recommend my favorites: Vanilla frosting Fruity Pebbles #1 Maple glazed bacon #2 Sea salt caramel #3 The only reason they don't get the 4 stars is because you don't get enough iced coffee. It is too full of ice and they won't serve it to you with "light ice" or no ice. Yes, I asked every time I went in. And yes, I am basing the -1 star on this because their iced coffee is their second main draw right after the doughnuts. Besides, who doesn't have coffee with their doughnuts???!! That's just crazy talk!
(4)Mia D.
This place is so cool and I recommend going here for breakfast. Their donuts are amazing and they make them right in front of you. You can get your donut however you want. Don't be surprised if you find yourself going here day after day like I did. I recommend going between 7 and 8 before it gets really crazy busy. Try the maple bacon donut and the chocolate glaze donuts. Their coffee is good too!
(5)Laurie W.
Wow. Worth the trip. We each got to choose our own and everybody loved them. . Even the daughter who swore she didn't want any. .
(5)kevin s.
Had fun ordering. Donuts looked awesome. Such a great beach idea. Only problem was the 1 hour wait after we placed the order. For that reason this place is a one and done.
(4)Travis T.
If the store us busy, at least acknowledge the customers in line. Food was great, service was sort of lacking. There was no urgency to clear the line. Indecisive customers holding up the line didn't help either.
(4)Kara N.
What a great place. Donuts are hot and made to order. Oh and did I mention delicious? Staff was friendly.and helpful....stop here for a donut and coffee!!
(5)Chuck C.
I didn' know they changed their name to The Donut Experiment - I'll bet that is so they can open more locations, which I am all-for. Terrific concept, donuts are DELICIOUS when they're fresh. The cake donuts don't keep, at all, so eat them there or shortly thereafter. Don't let them give you a donut off the rack, either. Demand a fresh donut off of the conveyor belt or it's NOT WORTH IT. I do not like the order forms. If I want to give you 1.50 for a Key Lime donut, I'd rather not fill out an half-page order form when I might check the wrong box, anyway. Which glaze column, which topping line, do I specify coconut and graham, OH, but there's more stand-alone options at the bottom of the form, I didn't see that, but I already checked the boxes up-top, do I need another form? This tiny pencil is too dull to make a note, sorry. The employee taking the order has to enter them into the system, anyway - why not have them fill out the form? They're the experts, right? Forms are stupid but necessary at the DMV. They are completely inappropriate for a Donut Shop. Lose those stupid forms. And maybe be a little nicer to your customers. We get it - the honeymoon is over. Now it's just a job. If my donut is fresh and not already room temperature and therefore rubbery and unappetizing, I'll be happy.
(4)Daniel B.
Must check it out while in Anna Maria Island
(5)Lila W.
We stopped by this little slice of heaven one morning on chance. The owners are so friendly and the donuts are made fresh to order. They literally melt in your mouth! We tried the bacon chocolate and the key lime donuts. The coffee was also great! I would highly recommend this place!
(4)Tom A.
awesome donuts, huge line. friendly staff. this place was super busy on a Tuesday morning.... expect to wait for your order to be ready. cool place though
(5)Aaron K.
This place is so great! I stumbled upon this place while on my honeymoon because of my love for donuts. On the north end of the island it's just a small storefront place, but wow the concept is great, and most importantly delicious! Being very streamlined is important for a busy place, but ordering is often intimidating, but they have made it super easy by printing out order forms customers can fill out and just hand to the cashier when they are ready. This makes the process go very quickly. They are very friendly and pleasant! I have been twice already. I tried many assortment of their unique toppings, my favorite being maple bacon. So awesome. They also offer coffee which is surprisingly good, especially their house iced coffee. What a gear idea and place, BE SURE and stop by on your visit to the island, you won't regret it!
(5)Carmen N.
This was a fun way to spend breakfast! The donuts were hot and fresh, made to order! The selection was good and the prices were great! $1.35 a donut! The staff was friendly, it was very busy inside but they still kept the donuts coming out quick! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is they don't have decaf coffee (which I can't have regular) and there are only 3 tables inside. It was very cold the day we went and everyone was fighting for tables, there is plenty of room for at least 3-4 more tables! This will be a must do for us anytime we go back to the island!
(4)Todd B.
This place is phenomenal. Family Bought a place on anna Maria this year and its proximity to this fantastic establishment was actually a consideration. The stores cool, clean design, the fantastic people that own and run and make the donuts, and the fact that the donuts are perfectly prepared make this an all round home run. Add the delicious coffee, with free refills, all at reasonable prices, it gets better. And they just bought an espresso machine. Keep up the great work Anna Maria Donut!
(5)Jeff L.
We had a great time taking our girls to Anna Maria Donuts. The owners were sooo nice! The donuts and iced coffee's were amazing. We really enjoyed the caramel sea salt donut, vanilla with raspberry drizzle and the white frosting with fruity pebbles. We'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Anna Maria Island.
(5)Matthew T.
A neat idea. Custom made donuts. The base is the same, a pretty decent plain cake donut, said to be vanilla based (didn't really taste it). You pick a glaze and then a topping. So kind of like a twist on all the "do it yourself" yogurt places that have been around forever. The automated donut machine is wicked cool, but I've always been fascinated by these since going to cider mills as a kid, which always seemed to have one running. The guy working said the machine take 100 second to make a donut, from the time it automatically dispenses the batter to when it comes off the line at the other end. The fresh donuts is certainly a cool idea. I tried a chocolate with seasalt, although my first instinct was maple bacon. The DC got chocolate with coconut which was good as well. Not sure if this is the best location for something with this, but with Pine ave on AMI undergoing a boom, might be ok.
(4)Alex L.
I didn't realize we had to fill out a form in order to place our order. That's the only way to order. Once I handed my form we had to wait around 20 min to get our doughnuts. Well let me tell you what: this is a well oiled machine. They have a real good organized system going on here. The donuts are really really good. You can see them mixing the dough and the icings right in front of you. They taste sooooo good. It's well worth the wait. Go check them out if you're in the area. Oh, and the coffee was delicious!! $9 and change for 4 donuts, 1 coffee and 2 oj.
(4)Katie M.
Do yourself a favor and pick up a dozen donuts to share with your family. You start with a warm white cake donut and pick your icing/glaze then topping. The hits at our house were key lime , chocolate with Oreo , and chocolate with sea salt. Also needing a little pick me up after all the island partying I got a house iced coffee that was the perfect blending of sweet and not too jittery.
(5)Alyson N.
Decent donuts but the service could be improved. After buying a half dozen donuts, milk and 2 coffees it should not be a big deal to provide an extra paper coffee cup with a top for a toddler to drink their milk from.
(2)Rachel B.
what can i say other than these positive yelp reviews are no joke! was on AMI for a wedding and perused yelp and this place did not fail to meet my high expectations. donuts were hot and delicious, the house iced coffee was lovely (though perhaps a little too sweet when paired with the already sweet donuts). we had the key lime, maple glaze with bacon, chocolate glaze with m&m, and vanilla glaze with coconut and all were gone in no time at all. do be prepared for tough but fun decisions when filling out your order sheet - they have 5 glazes and over 15 topping options!
(5)Lily H.
This is a nice little cozy place with specialize donuts. We got a dozen of fresh hot donuts and we pretty much ate everything and couldn't stop until we got every last scrap in the box of the toppings falling off the donuts. Our favorites: Maple Bacon and Chocolate Bacon! The bacon are real bacon and not bacon bits where it's hard... these are yummy! Our runner up is Salted Chocolate Chip! FYI, they have coffee and some other drinks including chocolate milk...... however, they do not have milk.... and I always need some with donuts....that's the only issue I have here...
(5)James G.
We discovered this amazing doughnut shop on our vacation. They are really as good as all the other reviews say they are. All our family, young and old alike, loved customizing their own doughnuts. The maple bacon seemed to be the overall favorite, but the simple vanilla glazed ran a close second. I love cake doughnuts and preferred them naked.......no glaze or toppings. If you're going to AMI, be sure to treat yourself to some of these doughnuts!
(5)Jamie O.
Went for the bacon donut which was very good but fell in love with the salted caramel. A must try.
(5)Daniel A.
Donuts were very good. I ordered a dozen with assorted combinations. I would give it 5 stars if they offered other Donuts besides the cake.
(4)Jason B.
Phenomenal experience. Had a chocolate Oreo donut and it was great. Walk in, select your frosting and then a topping and boom you have a fresh donut to your liking. Cake donuts with toppings for everyone. If your staying on the island make sure you make this a stop during your stay!!
(5)Dor R.
The employees were cranky, and the donut was too thick. They were also very rude when I asked to pay for a second topping. This place is a great idea, but cranky people can easily ruin it.
(1)Courtney W.
As if Anna Maria Island isn't heaven enough- sugar-powder sand meets sugar powdered donuts. A great local chomping ground of delights added to charming Pine Street. I don't have a sweet tooth, but I couldn't resist these. The sticky, sweet smell mixes with the salty island air as soon as you step out of your car or off your bike. Look to chalkboard to decide how you want your cake donut dipped and sprinkled. The shop has just the right amount of creative offerings without overwhelming your decision. This is a great beach stay treat.
(5)Mary W.
Not sure what all the fuss is about. Small doughnuts. We ordered glazed with raspberry icing. We could hardly taste the raspberry. Lots of families there but I don't think I will return.
(3)Nicole K.
must go to when on the island. we treated ourselves to a warm fresh delicious donut after a 45 minute walk across the island. what a great operation warm fresh in your face donuts with the topping of your choice. brilliant and yummy!
(4)Kelly C.
Hot fresh donuts, dipped in hot, melty, yummy glaze and dipped again in your choice of toppings!? Sign me up! What a simple idea, yet so good! We tried so many combos of flavors, but the maple glaze with bacon was DELICIOUS! Good thing I was just visiting the area, otherwise I would be in trouble
(5)Charless M.
Very good donuts. All are cake. Highly organized ordering system. Fill out an order sheet to specify the icing and topping. Price is about a buck each. They're served piping hot outta the fryer. Coffee was very weak on my visit.
(4)Lucien B.
Had three donuts during our stay in ami; all were delicious. the shop is new, and located next to a taqueria on pine ave. They sell donuts in orders of one, six or 12. they make the donuts right there, and they were very fresh. you can choose any frosting and any topping for your donut. if you get 12, you can try 12 different kinds. i had the caramel peanuts, maple bacon, and chocolate bacon. the maple was my favorite frosting, and the peanuts were my topping. my sister loved her chocolate donut with rainbow sprinkles (what 5-year-old wouldn't) and my brother loved his maple cinnamon-sugar, which he described as a pancake donut. I didn't get any drinks, but my grandmother enjoyed her coffee, and the selection of sodas looked nice. one of the best places on ami; will be back next year!
(5)Erin L.
As someone above said, this is the first time I've walked into a donut store and actually smelled donuts as opposed to pure sugar and coffee. I approve. We got a half-dozen donuts, mostly with the chocolate glaze and various toppings. I was amused that they had bacon bits (actual bacon, no less) and tried a donut with that -- surprisingly good! Service was friendly, though the store's understandably a bit empty right now, as the building it's in is new (next door was still having drywall put in, from what I saw). We chatted with the proprietor and her husband for a bit while we were getting our order filled. I wish I'd thought to ask more about the process of donut-making. Anyway, the donuts were delicious, the service was fun, and while I don't drink coffee, the others in the store seemed to enjoy it.
(5)Vivian M.
Great idea- Donuts made to order. Same cake donut but you get to choose the icings and toppings- good selection. We understood why the line was out the door the previous day. We had the chocolate icing with bacon & key lime pie....very good. Totally recommend- expect to wait a while unless you go very early.
(4)Kerry L.
Visited this place twice during our week long stay in Anna Maria. If you like do its, the variety of toppings will not disappoint you here. The donuts here are simply delicious!
(5)Chris B.
Good place for fresh cake donuts, put your own topping on donuts. Nice hot and fresh. I really liked the key lime and the family liked every single one of the ones hey picked out. ie. the maple/bacon :-) how can you go wrong with bacon! Reminds me of another donut shop called the Fractured Prune.
(3)Paula W.
Delicious donuts and the best coffee I've had so far on the island. Not bitter at all. They have traditional drip coffee and cake donuts where you can pick the glaze and toppings. Definitely a treat while on vacation.

This place is great! Fresh made to order donuts, and an awesome iced coffee that is cold brewed. Have the "House" iced coffee and thank me later! Trust me, I'm a professional eater, you'll love it!

Doughnut heaven! My I recommend the maple glaze with bacon bits and sea salt? Yes it is real and the best thing you'll ever put in your mouth.

Made-to-order donuts. The concept was fun. I went and picked up a dozen for my family. I think part of the appeal is choosing your icing and topping. So the wow factor would have probably been higher if my family was all there to pick out their own combinations. Good donuts. Nothing over the top have to write home about though.

Get key lime! It's the best. I also liked the chocolate bacon. The music is always great. If I lived down here I would certainly be a regular.

I have to give up 5 stars to Anna Maria Donuts for making be a believer! I have never been excited for a donut before, but then again this was the first time I have pulled up to a donut shop smelled donuts!!! The menu consists of donut and donuts. I love the fact that we have a donut shop that only sells donuts, no muffins, crepes, and bagels to distract from the quality of their donut. Do one thing and do it well! They offer 5 different donut glazes but I went with the classic chocolate and maple. With over a dozen different types of toppings it can be a lot to take in before you have had your coffee. Go with your gut! Some odd reason mine was screaming maple and bacon. The bacon was chewy yet crispy but not dry. How is it that most breakfast places roll the dice when it comes to doing it right, yet this donut shop was able to nail it? There is so much to explore on the island this is the perfect way to start a day in paradise! A great addition to the area and neat new concept. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with Wi-Fi. I smell a staycation!

Really really really good donuts made to order. Line wraps around building on a busy day. Give them try during your stay.

Delicious made to order doughnuts! Great outdoor seating. Cake doughnuts are fresh and even the sprinkles are gourmet. Try the pad tai and key lime. You just can't go wrong

It's nice to see Anna Maria looking so spiffy. This place has cake donuts only. If you like cake donuts, you won't be disappointed. I had the maple bacon glazed. The donuts are basic vanilla cake donuts and then they add the toppings per your specifications. The coffee is excellent, which is darn important when you are having donuts. If you prefer raised donuts you will be disappointed with these, but I found them quite enjoyable.

AMAZING DONUTS!!!! The donuts are made to order so you choose your glaze and choose your topping and they are assembled right in front of you. The owner and sole employee will be the one taking care of you. His wife and three young children left Philadelphia to take a chance and open this Donut shop on the island which has only been open for 3 weeks. If the line outside was any indication good news is traveling fast. You will love these donuts.

Great donut shop, expect about an hour for total visit time. Everything is hand created. Love this place will return again. We had the opportunity to talk with the owners who by the way were working thier tails off and they have a great story. I only mention the hour wait to set a real expectation but don't worry its worth the wait. True local ownership and excellent customer service. Fantastic is the only work I can use to describe our experience there.

Amazing awesome donuts if on the island must go here at least once. Only thing I would change is they need chocolate cake donuts not just vanilla.

Great choice for Florida but does not compare to Chicago donut choices such as Donut Vault or Dazed and Confused

Friends that live in the area took us here and liked it. You need to fill out a form of what you want and then pay and they will call your name when it's ready. My daughter had four donuts. My friend's son loves them with bacon on top. I had two and they were very good. I'm not a big fan of cake donuts but they are lighter/not as dense than typical grocery store cake donuts.

Awesome little place. The smell took me back to my youth, fresh bakery donuts you can't beat it. The only difference between AMD and my childhood bakery is AMD makes your donuts hot, fresh, and to order while you watch. No wondering how long they have been sitting in the donut case. The coffee was just as good as the donuts too. The owners and only employees provide top notch service. I wish AMD the best success.

Such a fun place! All donuts are cake donuts, which are not usually my favorite. These are so fresh and delicious that I didn't mind. We tried sea salt with caramel, chocolate with Oreo, and maple with bacon. All were tasty. It's a great concept in an adorable building with local art work.

GOOD LUCK!!!! Sorry not pleased with the donut.... Did not want anything on my donut so I had 2 plain donuts.... they were smaller than Dunkin Donuts... would be better if they made them bigger..... But ... Good LUCK.. have to sell a lot of donuts to make it go....

Staying on the island for the Labor Day weekend and heard about how yummy these donuts are while we were at dinner Sunday night. We were bummed they are closed on Mondays but I called this morning and they were open! We got 1/2 dozen, 2 chocolate icing, 1 chocolate icing with rainbow sprinkles, 1 glazed, 1 cinnamon sugar and 1 caramel with sea salt. They were very, very good. Very hot since they come off the fryer and were topped immediately. Great little business. The iced coffee was good too, the best we had this trip.

A-mazing. Get at least 12. You'll be sad if you only get 1.
